The mission of The Horticultural Society of New York (The Hort) is to sustain the vital connection between people and plants. There is a growing body of evidence that the act of cultivating plants, proximity to trees and plant life, and time spent in greenspaces aid in the treatment of mental illness, improve well-being, and reduce health inequalities.<br><br>Founded in 1902, The Hort remains committed to promoting meaningful connections to the natural world in ways that respond to the needs of the communities and constituencies we serve.
