The mission of The Horticultural Society of New York (The Hort) is to sustain the vital connection between people and plants. There is a growing body of evidence that the act of cultivating plants, proximity to trees and plant life, and time spent in greenspaces aid in the treatment of mental illness, improve well-being, and reduce health inequalities.<br><br>Founded in 1902, The Hort remains committed to promoting meaningful connections to the natural world in ways that respond to the needs of the communities and constituencies we serve. This commitment has continuously fostered the evolution of our programs.
