Mission

Selfhelp is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to maintaining the independence and dignity of seniors and at-risk populations through a spectrum of housing, home health care, and social services and will lead in applying new methods and technologies to address changing needs of its community. Selfhelp will continue to serve as the “last surviving relative” to its historic constituency, victims of Nazi persecution.

Since our founding in 1936 to support individuals fleeing Nazi Germany, Selfhelp has always been a source of dignity and hope. Building on our deep roots in serving Holocaust survivors, we've developed unparalleled expertise in providing compassionate, trusted, and innovative care. Today, this legacy of understanding allows us to serve thousands of older adults each year through a unique, person-centered approach. Whether through home care, affordable housing, or vital community-based services, we are dedicated to empowering older adults to live with independence and dignity. We believe that everyone deserves to age with compassionate, trusted, and innovative care that respects their life experiences. Selfhelp provides affordable housing, home health care, and community-based services to 25,000 individuals so that they can age with dignity.
