The nonprofit organization presents evidence of strategic thinking and goal setting through sharing their most important strategic goals.
Goal One: After a nearly 8-year closure for construction on our new building, we are excited to open the doors on Studio Museum’s new 82,000 square foot facility in the heart of Harlem. The state-of-the-art building increases by 50% the size of our galleries and education workshops and offers amenities that enhance the visitor experience.
Goal Two: In our first year of re-opening, we aim to welcome 330K visitors, following our previous visitor total of nearly 90K. With a greatly enhanced new facility, expanded opportunities for new exhibitions, education programs for audiences of all ages and interests, and a comprehensive, pre-opening marketing campaign, we know the new Museum will draw local, national, and international visitors.
Goal Three: We focus on the needs of our historic, Black, local communities through engagement with public schools, libraries, and community organizations. Many of these Central Harlem communities, with a poverty rate of 28.4% and median household income of $47,990, are underserved by the city’s leading art and cultural institutions. Such realities have been central to exhibition and program planning.
