Friends of the Israel Defense Forces
Mission
Established in 1981, Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF) mission is to offer educational, cultural, recreational, social services programs, and facilities that provide hope, purpose, and life-changing support for the soldiers who protect Israel and Jews worldwide. The strength of the IDF, which has been guarding the State of Israel since it declared independence in 1948, derives from the selfless determination and great capabilities of the young men and women who form it. At the tender age of 18, most Israelis are drafted into the IDF. They bear the difficult tasks of defending Israel's borders and guaranteeing the safety of its people. The Israeli government is responsible for training IDF soldiers and providing them with the necessary tools for their service. FIDF is committed to providing these soldiers with love, support, and care in an effort to ease the burden they carry.
Vision
To secure the survival of Israel, providing a thriving homeland for Jews worldwide.
Goals
- 1.Developing & educating a professional Fundraising staff that will grow & retain/steward FIDF donor base. FIDF continues to build career and technical education programs designed to improve all employee performance. Specific offerings this year includes training on improved utilization of our CRM, implementation of a wealth screening platform, and better utilization of portfolio & moves management.
- 2.Since October 7, 2023, FIDF continues to emphasize programming to support the health, well-being, and education of Israel's defense forces, especially as they struggle with the impact of the ongoing war, funding and partnering with best in class organizations such as Sheba Medical Center, Cohen Veterans Network, Association for Israel's Soldiers.
- 3.Over the past three years, FIDF has increased program allocations to expand access to services for all those who seek it. New initiatives expand services for IDF families and reservists, in addition to the existing support for active-duty soldiers. Last year's $132 million program spend was the largest in our organization's history.
