Mission

The mission of the National Book Foundation is to celebrate the best literature published in the United States, connect books with readers of all ages, and champion the literary arts as a vital part of our culture.

Vision

In our book, everyone is a reader. The National Book Foundation is working towards a future where books reflect and inspire everyone, everywhere. We want reading to be a joyful part of people’s daily lives because books have the unique capacity to convey ideas, spark imagination, invite conversation, and build connection. Simply put, books change lives.

Goals

1.Maintain the prominence of the National Book Awards, continue to grow high-profile media partnerships and relationships with influencers, and streaming services.
2.Distribute 1.5 million new, free books to 72 communities through Book Rich Environments; present 125 free, co-curated literary events through NBF Presents; reach 50 new classrooms/1,500 students nationwide through Teens Read the National Book Awards
3.Rebuild nationalbook.org for greater audience engagement; create three new positions in marketing, development, and programs
