Mission

The mission of Fresh Youth Initiatives (FYI) is to empower youth who have the fewest resources to achieve their greatest potential. We partner with youth to develop their leadership and build their legacy. Our vision is to disrupt intergenerational poverty and advance educational equity and well-being for our community of bilingual-bicultural immigrant and first-generation children and families. FYI serves 1,300 students in grades K through 12 and beyond, each year during the school day, after school, and in the summer at our four-story headquarters and at four public schools from West 165th to 204th Streets through our core programs: Youth Development, Education, Behavioral and Mental Health, Parent Support, and Hunger Relief & Social Services.

Goals

1.To open a bilingual, bicultural behavioral mental health clinic to serve youth ages 5 to 18 in the under-resourced neighborhood of Washington Heights.
2.Prioritize and improve FYI's use of metrics and data reporting in order to improve programs and respond to community needs.
3.Strengthen our workforce, enhance our human resources infrastructure, and support our staff during a time of organizational growth and change.
