Mission

Teaching Matters is a nationally recognized professional learning organization dedicated to increasing teacher effectiveness, a critical factor in student success. Our mission is to close the opportunity gap for under-served and marginalized students. We envision a nation where every student has equitable access to excellent teaching, regardless of zip code. From states and districts to schools and classrooms, we partner to help teachers and school leaders develop the skills they need to teach well, lead their peers and drive school-wide improvement. Our core model provides expert coaching to improve educational outcomes for students grades Pre-K to 12. We address areas such as early childhood education, literacy, and mathematics while also prioritizing social emotional support. Teaching Matters has a successful track record of delivering evidence-based instruction for students, particularly in under-resourced public schools: since 1994, we have partnered with over 2,000 schools, 50,000 teachers and improved the instruction of over 750,000 students.
