Vision

To provide a premier public open space for everyone, free of charge, by fostering environmental stewardship through our Estuarine Sanctuary, promoting recreation, and ensuring long-term financial self-sufficiency.

Goals

1. 1.To keep programs current with community needs, the Park developed key considerations to evaluate new programming, including 1) choosing the right program for the right space; 2) demonstrating respect for park users; 3) standing out among peers and being authentic; 4) evaluating susceptibility to weather (rain, heat, and air quality); and 5) operating and building out facilities.
2. 2.Hudson River Park’s mission-driven programming should welcome diverse communities; enhance our unique physical spaces and cultural aspects; be neighborhood-focused and engage local partners; support health and fitness; and bring attention to the whole park. These criteria are being used to evaluate current programs.
3. 3.None of HRPK Friends can happen without private funding. No City or State operating dollars fund the park’s operations and programs. Capacity is being built through a Major Donor fundraising focus, which is more cost-effective than the past event-driven fundraising. New technological research tools will provide additional support for the small staff.
