    Mission

    Hudson Link for Higher Education in Prison addresses the fundamental lack of access and opportunity available to people looking to use the transformative power of higher education to change their lives during and after their involvement with the justice system. We've grown from one class of sixteen men at Sing Sing to degree-granting college programs for over 670 people in six New York State prisons, having awarded over 1,200 college degrees to date, providing transitional support to more than 1,600 released alumni, and facilitating grass-roots advocacy toward systematic change for all justice-impacted people. The result of this work speaks for itself: the twenty-six-year recidivism rate for Hudson Link graduates is under 2%, compared to three-year recidivism rates of 43% statewide and approximately 68% across the country.
