Mission
The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation is a non-profit, volunteer-fueled organization dedicated to finding cures for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis and improving the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases. Since our founding in 1967, the Foundation has played a role in every major research breakthrough in IBD. We have invested more than $500 million in research to find the causes, treatments, and cures for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. The Foundation is currently funding 238 research projects bringing together best-in-class partners from around the globe to discover game-changing therapies. We are the trusted source for online and in-person education, guidance, and support for IBD patients and their families, medical professionals, and the public.

The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation is dedicated to finding cures for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis and improving the lives of adults and children affected by these diseases. Our vision is to redefine how scientists study IBD by funding cutting-edge research that has the potential to enhance the well-being of people with IBD. Through our precision medicine initiatives, we’re striving to create tailored treatments and therapies for each and every IBD patient. We believe in and value the power of the patient voice and experience. We put patients first – involving them in everything we do and ensuring their voices are heard in the development of our research priorities, educational programming, and advocacy agenda. We are the go-to source for the IBD community providing them with education and support every step of the way on their IBD journey.
Goals
- 1.We are a driving force in the development of next-generation treatments and personalized medicine for IBD, bringing attention to evolving areas of research, such as prevention of disease onset and progression.
- 2.We improve the quality of life of people living with IBD including improving access to care, providing support and education that meets the unique needs of all IBD patients, and removing the stigma associated with IBD.
- 3.We engage the full spectrum of the diverse IBD community and our workforce, provide equitable resources and solutions for all patients and staff, and ensure those diverse voices are included and uplifted within our work.
