In January 2022, Clearwater hired a new Executive Director, David Toman. The Board of Directors is committed to mentoring David and providing him with learning and tools needed to lead Clearwater into a post-pandemic world. Additionally, Clearwater embraces opportunities for professional development for all staff and crew and seeks to create an environment where all voices are heard.

From its inception, HRS Clearwater has been dedicated to bringing the citizens of the Hudson River Watershed down to the river, actively engaging them in the natural resources and nature found in their own communities. Experiencing the Hudson River from the deck of the sloop has always been a unique way for residents to connect with the river. We regularly partner with other organizations to reach the full diversity of communities in the region. Our Environmental Action department approaches environmental issues with a collaborative perspective and seeks to activate communities by providing them with the information and tools to speak and effect change. Clearwater uses social media to tell our story, build community, share programs, and inspire the next generation of environmental leaders.

During the past year Clearwater adopted a Strategic Plan that focuses on fiscal stability, focusing and strengthening our mission, and improving outreach and engagement. Clearwater has continued to adapt programmatically Additionally, Clearwater has continued to develop an increased digital presence both through social media (joining new platforms like TikTok) and virtual programs (webinars, educational programs, etc.). These developments have kept us connected to the communities we serve and have helped us reach new audiences.
