Ratings are calculated from one or more beacon scores. Currently, we require either an Accountability & Finance beacon or an Impact & Results beacon to be eligible for a Charity Navigator rating. Note: The absence of a rating does not indicate a positive or negative assessment; it only indicates that we have not yet evaluated this organization.
See rating report below to learn why this organization is not currently eligible.
We recognize that not all metrics and beacons equally predict a charity’s success. The percentage each beacon contributes to the organization’s overall rating depends on the number of beacons an organization has earned.
Use the tool below to select different beacons to see how the weighting shifts when only one, two, or three beacons are earned.
Rating histories are available for a growing number of rated organizations. Check back later to see if this organization has a rating history!
Atlas Free cannot currently be evaluated by our Accountability & Finance methodology because they have e-filed less than three full IRS Form 990s in the past six fiscal years
We recognize that organizations may skip e-filing on certain years, while otherwise meeting our methodology. However, we do not believe it appropriate to rate an organization based on this limited amount of data.

This organization was impacted by COVID-19 in a way that effected their financial health in 2020. This normally would have reduced their star rating. Due to the unprecedented nature of the pandemic, we give charities such as this one the opportunity to share the story of COVID's impact on them, and doing this pauses our revision of their rating. Charities may submit their own pandemic responses through their nonprofit portal.
Atlas Free reported being impacted by COVID-19 in the following ways:
Program Delivery
How COVID-19 impacted the organization's operations financially:
We adapted our programmatic efforts to serve the ever-changing vulnerabilities. During this time, brothels in red light districts were shut down. Instead of scaling back services and revenue, Rescue:Freedom experienced the opposite. Revenue increased, and our monthly financial partner network grew by 64%.
How COVID-19 impacted the organization's delivery of programs:
Despite obstacles caused by COVID-19, we adapted and launched 19 new programs to meet crucial needs and rising vulnerabilities.
How this organization adapted to changing conditions caused by COVID-19:
24 of our 29 Local Partners made some shift to incorporate online and phone-based case management and/or education for clients. Access to reliable and safe technology has been essential, though not universally accessible.
Innovations the organization intends to continue permanently after the pandemic:
In Myanmar, Rescue:Freedom's Local Partner utilized an Artificial Intelligence Chatbot to increase trafficking reporting and victim identification. They partnered with Myanmar’s leading tech company to develop integrated technologies to disrupt the purchase and sale of trafficked women and girls. The program consists of three pillars: - Victim Outreach: Finding potential victims online and building relationships through a texting platform. - Virtual Neighborhood Watch: Provides up-to-date trafficking awareness to communities, push notification alerting of traffickers operating in the area, amber alerts for missing children, and a platform for reporting suspicious activity. - Reporting: The chatbot will report illicit and trafficking activities In the first quarter of 2021, this technology intercepted over 12,000 attempts to buy sex, and 32% of buyers select that they want help. Our chatbot, Gracie, not only intercepts attempts to buy sex but also plays a part in buyer suppression.
Not Currently Scored

Note: The absence of a score does not indicate a positive or negative assessment, it only indicates that we have not yet evaluated the organization.

We believe that sharing feedback with a survivor needs to be timely and intentional if/when it happens.
What challenges does your organization face in collecting feedback from the people you serve?
We don't have the right technology to collect and aggregate feedback efficiently, The people we serve tell us they find data collection burdensome, It is difficult to find the ongoing funding to support feedback collection, Staff find it hard to prioritize feedback collection and review due to lack of time
Briefly describe a recent change that your organization made in response to feedback from the people you serve.
Within the last year we added 14 partner organizations to our network after realizing the need for greater services in the US. Our desire is to be a network that finds best practices all around the globe. Historically we have been an organization that operated exclusively outside of the US. Realizing the need to expand domestically was a direct result of interacting with projects globally and with survivor networks in the US.
