United Animal Friends
Mission
United Animal Friends (UAF) is a volunteer-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit group founded in 2003. Our mission is to provide rescue programs and services to animals and those who care for them. In addition to rescuing, spaying and neutering, fostering, and finding homes for dogs and cats, UAF provides many services for residents of Yavapai County and their pets. Our Spay/Neuter Certificate Program, Community Pet Food Bank and Emergency Medical Program help hundreds of people and pets each year.
Vision
Our vision is to see that all companion animals are treated with dignity, compassion, and integrity, and no longer abandoned or destroyed. We will strive to be a leading force in animal advocacy by finding good homes for pets, keeping pets in good homes, and significantly reducing the number of animals who die in shelters. We will accomplish this by making adoption matches that last, educating the public, assisting pets in need, and providing spay/neuter programs to decrease pet overpopulation.
Goals
- 1.Our primary goal is saving the lives of adoptable cats and dogs. United Animal Friends takes in animals from underserved shelters in remote areas of Arizona and New Mexico and finds them loving homes. We also take in cats when their owners have passed away or moved to assisted living. We publicize our adoptable animals through our website and weekly adoption events.
- 2.Reducing pet overpopulation through spay/neuter. Our Spay/Neuter Certificate Program provides low-cost surgeries for pets in low-income households and free surgeries for feral cats. The addition of our Snip n' Go Clinic has increased access to spay/neuter servies and allows us to alter more cats and dogs than ever before.
- 3.Relieving suffering and facilitating the compassionate treatment of animals. Our Emergency Medical Program helps pay for emergency veterinary care of pets when their owners cannot afford the cost, and our Pet Food Bank provides free food for pets in low-income households. Both programs allow owners to keep their pets instead of surrendering or euthanizing them.
