Mission

Divan is a 501(c)(3) charitable, cultural non-profit organization dedicated to addressing the social, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs of the people living in North Carolina. Through dialogue, Divan enables people of diverse cultures to create a foundation of understanding that nurtures friendship, respect, and charity. Founded in 2003, Divan is supported by individuals affiliated with the Hizmet social movement. We consider dialogue a key philosophy to settle differences and move forward as a community. To achieve this ideal, Divan Center organizes and promotes activities such as diversity awareness seminars, cultural festivals, dialogue dinners, community service, art performances, and cultural trips where people from different backgrounds can meet and find common ground.
