Mission

The mission of Bergen Volunteer Medical Initiative, Inc., is to provide free primary medical care and, where possible, referrals to free specialty care for working, low-income Bergen County residents who have no health insurance.

Vision

All individuals will have access to equitable, high-quality healthcare.

Goals

1.Open a second clinic in Garfield, the Russell Berrie Healthcare Center, in 2026 to meet the health and wellness needs of southern Bergen County residents. All Hackensack clinic programs will be replicated along with the launch of a vision care program.
2.Continue increasing healthcare access through the Hackensack clinic, the Lynn Diamond Healthcare Center, which provides 1,000+ low-income, high-need patients access to primary care and 15 in-house specialties and delivers nearly 10,000 appointments each year across various programs.
3.Ensure BVMI’s ability to deliver healthcare to those in need for decades to come by onboarding and retaining top-notch volunteers and staff, securing diverse revenue streams, and streamlining operational processes.
