Mission

The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation is dedicated to curing spinal cord injury by funding innovative research and improving quality of life for people living with paralysis through grants, information, and advocacy. <br>In 1995, when Christopher Reeve was injured, the American Paralysis Association (APA) was one of the first organizations to which he and his wife, Dana, turned for help. Christopher also formed his own foundation, but in 1999, the two came together as the Christopher Reeve Foundation. <br>Today, the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation is recognized as the premier spinal cord injury research organization in the world. Through 30 years of scientific progress made possible by the Reeve Foundation, neuroscientists everywhere now agree that repairing the damaged spinal cord is not a question of "if," but a question of "when." The Reeve Foundation also provides many programs and services that empower those living with paralysis with knowledge, resources, support, and community.

Goals

1.Advancing Research: The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation advances the development of treatments for spinal cord injury research worldwide by funding the most innovative translational science by at least $4.74 million from January 2025-June 2026.
2.PROVIDING AND ENHANCING QUALITY SUPPORT AND CARE We are the premier resource and globally recognized leader in paralysis support provided by the National Paralysis Resource Center (NPRC), setting the gold standard in care, education and inclusivity while forging innovative partnerships and building a stronger, more supportive network to ensure equitable access to life-changing resources.
3.ADVANCING PUBLIC POLICY & ADVOCACY: The Reeve Foundation will vigorously work to dramatically improve systemic support and ensure equitable access to resources and opportunities for those living with and impacted by paralysis.
