Scituate Animal Shelter of Massachusetts (SAS)

Mission

Since 1992, we've been our region's most important resource for Massachusetts animals. We are dedicated to helping pets and the people who love them through our shelter which finds homes for an average of 550+ pets each year, and our humane programs which seek to address the root causes of pet homelessness.

Vision

We want a world where fewer pets need our help. To achieve this, we have active plans to aid more pet owners facing difficulty, whether it be financial, physical, or emotional, with a goal of enabling them to keep their pets where they belong: at home with them. We also foresee increased population control efforts, especially for some of our region's most vulnerable animals: feral and street cats. Our new surgical suite could in future be used for more TNR efforts for feral cats, for example.

Goals

1.Increase care for at-risk community pets. We seek to increase our current programs to aid community pet owners who face difficulty caring for pets due to financial, physical or other issues.
2.Improve medical care. We've broken ground on a surgical suite to enable us to treat pets in-house, freeing up staff & lessening time between when pets arrive & when they're ready for adoption.
3.Expand youth involvement. We seek to increase our offerings to include a comprehensive humane education protocol & an accredited community service program for teens.
