Mission

MEDA creates business solutions to poverty. Today, over 700 million people still live in extreme poverty, 80% in rural areas where agriculture and food systems dominate. In Sub-Saharan Africa, 10-12 million young people enter the labour market each year, yet only 3 million formal jobs are created. In rural areas, the systemic barriers of fragmented markets, underdeveloped infrastructure, and entrenched gender and youth exclusion hold back millions of capable farmers and entrepreneurs from scaling their businesses, accessing finance, reaching lucrative markets, and creating jobs.
