LBBC was unable to have in person fundraising events. This contributed to a decline in these sources of revenue.
LBBC has pivoted our work in three important ways in response to COVID-19. • Meeting economic needs by providing more emergency financial assistance grants to newly diagnosed women who face financial difficulty with basic needs such as housing, utilities, and transportation. We are on track to give away $500,000 to families whose lives have been upended by both a breast cancer diagnosis and the pandemic. • Producing original content every week to help women navigate breast cancer treatment in a time of upheaval. To date, we have seen a 24% increase in web viewings, and are now considered one of the most ranked websites by Google when searching for breast cancer emotional support. • Reducing social isolation with our private online communitr es and Breast Cancer Helpline to keep women across the country informed, connected, and heard.
1) We created more first-person video content and shared it on our YouTube channel 2) We allowed for people in treatment to apply directly to the LBBC Fund (our financial grants program where we pay for people's basic need bills - rent, utilities, transportation).
We have pivoted our LBBC Fund permanently to: 1) Make it easier for people in treatment to directly apply for financial assistance (as compared to going through their hospital systems) 2) Now provide financial assistance grants to people in treatment to all 50 states (as compared to a regional approach pre-Covid-19). 3) Our YouTube channel views have increased by over 100%. Our content will continue to emphasize short videos of first-person created content.

The nonprofit has an opportunity to tell the story of how the organization adapted to tremendous external changes in the last year.
Deepen LBBC’s engagement: We saw significant growth in web sessions, sky-rocketing video views, increases in percentage of returning web visitors, live program registrations, and reach of our leadership volunteers. Our healthcare provider programs saw great traction during a particularly difficult time for healthcare providers given the demands on them. Thought Leadership- the staff continues to have posters accepted at virtual national medical conferences that detail how we approach our work developing programs for people with breast cancer. We wrote one white paper on our needs assessment of young women with breast cancer and were a co-author of white paper about using common terminology in biomarker testing. Staff also serves on national advisory boards. Strategic investments in infrastructure accelerated in 2021 adding important foundational support for our growth and engagement strategies in technology, human resources and our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion work.
