Vision

The Gardens at Heather Farm envisions a thriving, accessible sanctuary where people of all ages connect with nature, learn about sustainable gardening, and gain the knowledge to protect and preserve our environment for future generations.

Goals

1. 1.Our goal is to develop a natural science home-school program that meets the observed needs of our community. This program will offer hands-on, curriculum-aligned lessons in botany, ecology, and environmental science, utilizing interactive workshops, guided explorations, and science-based projects, we aim to inspire curiosity and deepen students' understanding of the natural world.
2. 2.To focus on our core programs and advance our mission, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue our preschool program, which has seen declining enrollment over the past two years. This step allows us to allocate resources more effectively to programs that align closely with our mission and have a greater impact on our community.
3. 3.We continue to expand our Make Your Garden Grow program, assisting teachers and students in revitalizing school gardens. Launched two years ago in four schools, we now assist 11 elementary and middle schools use their gardens to their full potential. This includes providing teachers with NGSS-aligned lessons incorporating the garden in classroom instruction to encourage its use.
