How COVID-19 impacted the organization's operations financially:

Our school-based assembly programs are community funded. The pandemic immediately halted our assembly programs and as a result community funding. In 2020 We had reduced our operating expenses by over a quarter of a million dollars over 2019 so we were lean and getting financially fit prior to the pandemic. We leveraged two rounds of PPP funding in which 100% has been forgiven. We took advantage of the SBA EIDL Loan program providing long term financing at 2.75% interest for 30 years. We leveraged the pandemic to strengthen our financial position and re-engineer how to deliver our programs in a digital format and through social media. In 2020 we launched a Pro Speaker Sponsorship program allowing donors to personally sponsor a pro speaker at $39K per year with a three-year commitment. This program provides $117K in contributions per sponsored pro. By the end of 2021 we saw 6 pros fully sponsored ensuring $702,000 in future contributions. In 2022 we realized our 7th pro sponsorship.


How COVID-19 impacted the organization's delivery of programs:

When schools shut down, we were unable to deliver in person assembly programs. We quickly mapped out a digital version through high end video, Live Zoom presentations and investing in a robust social media platform. Our cost per student through our traditional programs was approximately $3.50. These new digital and social media programs reduced our cost per student to just $.15. This reduction in per student cost enables our donors to realize greater impact and reach into the lives of our nation's youth.


How this organization adapted to changing conditions caused by COVID-19:

We launched high end video assembly messages for schools to utilize. We performed school assemblies via Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google. We expanded our social media staff and launched our own TikTok site hiring young Christian Influencers to help spread our message. We launched Live Social Media ministry events twice weekly and streamed simultaneously over YouTube, Instagram and TikTok. In 2021 we saw 6.99 million views, the greatest impact our ministry experienced in 42 years. We set the bar for how ministry uses these platforms to reach millions of young people. Utilizing the PPP and EIDL programs allowed us to invest in our digital and social media programs with new staff and software capabilities.


Innovations the organization intends to continue permanently after the pandemic:

Social Media applications and platforms, in person mentoring programs and expanded in person assembly programs and special events. In 2021 we partnered with Child Evangelism Fellowship providing joint outreach programs nationally. CEF also provides 50% of the funding for these outreaches. In 2021 we launched our first ever Mentoring Program for 7th and 8th grade boys in a public middle school near Detroit Michigan. The school district funded this program and it was such a success the program will continue in 2022-23 school year for both boys and girls. We plan to expand this program nationally.

Like many non-profits, we have experienced financial challenges in the last few years due to the pandemic and the economy. However, we have implemented new cost-reducing strategies and new approaches that have strengthened our financial stability.
