As part of the United for Housing Coalition, and Family Homelessness Coalition, Settlement Housing Fund’s leadership actively advances and mobilizes our mission to make quality affordable housing a reality for low- and moderate-income families. As part of the United for Housing Coalition, with 80 other organizations that are expert in affordable, supportive housing, and homelessness, we made recommendations for significant investments in affordable housing on the local, regional and national. Our work, as part of the steering committee with the Family Homelessness Coalition, enables women with lived experience of homelessness to advocate for the needs of homeless households on the public policy level. Our housing development work would not be possible without external mobilization efforts to engage residents, communities, local officials, city organizations and third-party partners in the construction, preservation, and property management of our projects.

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit in 2020, Settlement Housing Fund transitioned entirely to remote operations, and continued its essential work to create and preserve quality affordable housing for low- and moderate-income New Yorkers and provided the necessary technology for Settlement Housing Fund staff to work from home. In 2021, we shifted our Annual Benefit to a virtual event, to support our affiliate organization, New Settlement, with the re-opening of the New Settlement Community Center, which provides affordable programs to the community.
