Mission

Legal Momentum's mission is to ensure the economic and personal security of women and girls nationwide by advancing equity in education, the workplace, and the courts. Through impactful programming, litigation, and innovative public policy, we seek justice within these four areas: Violence Against Women and Girls, Workplace Equality/Economic Development, Equal Educational Opportunities and Reproductive Justice. Legal Momentum is the first and longest-running nonprofit dedicated to advancing the rights of women and girls. We were founded as the NOW Legal Defense and Education Fund in 1970 and have been at the forefront of this movement for over 50 years.

Vision

Our vision is for women and girls nationwide to realize their full potential and live free of discrimination and abuse in all aspects of their lives - at work, in school, at home and within the courts.

Goals

1.Legal Momentum is investing in its first ever Capital Campaign. Over the next 5 years, LM seeks to raise $10M to accelerate and scale our mission’s impact.
2.We are growing our Workplace Equality & Economic Empowerment pillar of focus.
3.Maintain focus on Reproductive Justice, following the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe vs. Wade in June 2022.
