    Mission

    New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) was established in 1971 as a 501c3 service organization to financially support individual artists throughout NYS. Over the last 50 years, our mission has expanded to offer training and other resources to artists, creators, arts administrators, and emerging arts organizations throughout the United States. With a diverse staff of 28, and a dedicated board of 22, NYFA’s present day impact is far-reaching and rooted in a wealth of resources, with in-person programs and services, a world-wide online presence, an ever-growing base in NY, and significant partnerships with other arts & cultural organizations, city & state government agencies, and academic institutions. Programs are tailored to the needs of our constituents, with a particular focus on serving under-represented/under-resourced communities. Diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) are integral to our mission which we serve through our four flagship initiatives: Awards & Grants, Learning, Fiscal Sponsorship, and Online Resources.
