    King Street Center

    Mission

King Street Center's vision is every child and family thriving in an equitable community and aims to accomplish this through their mission to empower youth to explore their talents through learning, play, and opportunity. King Street Center serves children ages 18 months to 18 years old and their families through their Early Childhood Education, K-5, Middle School, High School, Mentoring, and Family Support programs. They serve approximately 180 youth and their families annually. Their K-12 programs primarily operate in the critical hours of after school when 1 in 3 children in Vermont are left alone and at-risk, but additionally offer full-day programming during school vacations and an 8-week full-day summer program. King Street Center's philosophical approach is to serve the whole child, which means wrapping arms around their families and personal community to ensure needs are being met at home, school, and beyond. Not just an afterschool program, King Street Center partners with caregivers, teachers, and wellness teams, and helps connect the dots for our youth so they are given every opportunity to thrive into adulthood. Located in downtown Burlington, King Street Center serves youth and families primarily located in the heart of downtown, many of whom experience systemic marginalization and economic insecurities. Their collective impact provides services to over 400 community members each year.
