Dare to Care Food Bank

Mission

Founded in 1971, Dare to Care Food Bank's mission is to work together to provide pathways to end hunger in our community. We fulfill this mission by partnering with local agencies, such as food pantries, shelters and emergency kitchens to distribute food to our community. Last year, Dare to Care provided 22.7 million meals to children, adults, and seniors. Dare to Care Food Bank serves 13 counties in Kentuckiana, including Jefferson, Shelby, Bullitt, Oldham, Spencer, Carroll, Trimble, and Henry Counties in Kentucky, and Floyd, Clark, Harrison, Washington, and Crawford Counties in Indiana. Our warehouse is equipped to store and inventory food at the highest commercial food safety standards. Our Community Kitchen houses Dare to Care's production and innovation kitchen and a demonstration kitchen and classroom space.

Vision

Dare to Care Food Bank is the leading hunger-relief organization in Kentuckiana, supporting the vision of a nourished community where everyone can thrive. We believe nutritious food is a basic right and should be available to everyone.

Goals

2.Leverage food and programs to address root causes of hunger: Understanding root causes in the community allows Dare to Care to evolve existing programs and partnerships where we can have the most impact and explore new partnerships to address root causes.
3.Develop resources and capacity to drive our mission: Through philanthropic support and revenue sources, Dare to Care will ensure our organizational structure, technology, and physical assets are optimized to fuel our mission.
