    Mission

    MEDA creates business solutions to poverty. Today, over 700 million people still live in extreme poverty, 80% in rural areas where agriculture and food systems dominate. In Sub-Saharan Africa, 10-12 million young people enter the labour market each year, yet only 3 million formal jobs are created. In rural areas, the systemic barriers of fragmented markets, underdeveloped infrastructure, and entrenched gender and youth exclusion hold back millions of capable farmers and entrepreneurs from scaling their businesses, accessing finance, reaching lucrative markets, and creating jobs. Our Strategic Plan Focuses on Agri-Food Systems Transformation Systemic, Scalable, Sustainable We believe agri-food systems are the most strategic entry point for driving inclusive, climate-smart economic transformation. They offer a unique intersection of economic, social, and environmental impact. With this focus, we’re building on our history, scaling our impact, and driving long-term sustainability and resilience.
