Brazoria County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
Mission
The SPCA of Brazoria County is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to leading Brazoria County to a time when there are no more homeless pets in our community. Founded in 1974, the SPCA-BC has operated the Southern Brazoria County Animal Shelter since 2003. The Shelter is an open admission facility serving the Cities of Freeport, Clute, and Lake Jackson, Texas. The SPCA-BC proudly operates as a no-kill shelter. Our Mission Education We believe in promoting responsible pet ownership, teaching children compassion toward animals, fostering a community of support for animal welfare, and bringing animal welfare issues to the forefront of community awareness. Spay/Neuter Spayed and neutered pets are healthier, happier, and make better companions. We are committed to providing low-cost, high-volume spay and neuter procedures to our community. Adoption Adoptions are vital to our life-saving mission. Every pet deserves a loving home. We work hard each day to find homes for the homeless pets in our care. Caring Shelter Every pet deserves a home, but the reality is that there are thousands of homeless pets right here in our own community. We provide shelter, medical care, and a place of refuge for homeless pets as they wait to find their forever homes.
Vision
Our vision at the SPCA of Brazoria County is to create a community where every animal is treated with compassion, love, and respect. By fulfilling our mission, we aspire to become a beacon of hope, ensuring that all pets find their forever homes, every lost animal is reunited with their family, and that we lead the charge in promoting humane treatment and responsible pet ownership. Together, we are building a future where no animal suffers and where the bond between people and pets is celebrated and cherished.
Goals
- 1.Our goal at the SPCA of Brazoria County is to continuously evolve our programs to meet the changing needs of our community. By closely monitoring trends, feedback, and emerging challenges, we can develop and implement new initiatives that address gaps in animal welfare, enhance public education, and improve the overall quality of care for our animals.
- 2.Our goal is to significantly expand access to our existing programs to better serve our community and meet the growing needs of animals in our care. This includes scaling our adoption programs, increasing the reach of our spay and neuter services, enhancing our community education efforts, and broadening our return-to-home initiatives.
- 3.Our goal is to deepen our advocacy efforts by educating the public, influencing policy, and strengthening community partnerships. We're committed to these strategies to amplify our impact, reduce animal homelessness, and ensure humane treatment for all pets. Each strategy aligns with our mission to protect animals and build a compassionate, informed, and engaged community.
