Program Delivery
Fundraising Capacity
Revenue
Grants Received
How COVID-19 impacted the organization's operations financially:
Due to the pandemic, we had to cancel all program trainings/workshops and fundraising events. We also did not receive as much funding as normal, because of hardships that the grantors were also facing. We were fortunate to keep all staff though.
How COVID-19 impacted the organization's delivery of programs:
Schools were and still are operating on a virtual basis or are not allowing for visitors to enter their schools. This has caused our programs to not reach as many students as we liked. However, given this situation that was out of our control, our programs were still given to almost 19,000 individuals within the Greater Houston area.
How this organization adapted to changing conditions caused by COVID-19:
Our organization ended up going fully remote, and we have since permanently moved to a remote setting. Not only are our efficiency levels the same, but we are also able to keep our staff safe and healthy.
Innovations the organization intends to continue permanently after the pandemic:
We now offer many virtual options for our school personnel and parents. Our programs are all offered through Zoom and our curricula is offered online, as well as in person. We also have a ton of parent resources online, along with offerings of parent webinars to ensure that children are remaining mentally healthy.

The nonprofit has an opportunity to tell the story of how the organization adapted to tremendous external changes in the last year.
It goes without saying that this last year was incredibly difficult for all of us as the pandemic touched every area of our lives in some way. Despite these challenges, we wish to point out some important accomplishments from our last completed fiscal year. • The pandemic precluded our ability to continue in-person train-the-facilitator trainings, bringing uncertainty to our programs. To continue providing services to our community, we poured resources into accelerating our virtual program expansion to accommodate distance learning. • We redeveloped and modernized the organization’s website and included a robust online learning system to house ChildBuilders’ educational materials. Digital curricula were successfully provisioned through a members-only area of the website for the first time. This allowed us to protect our content while offering a scalable, accessible solution in our increasingly virtual environments. • In responses to the express needs of our clients, our safety education program, Stand Strong • Stay Safe, was made available in three age-appropriate versions: Early Childhood for Pre-K through 1st Grade, Lower Elementary for 2nd and 3rd Grades, and Upper Elementary for 4th and 5th Grades. Digital components were included at each level to support educators working with students online. • To address the mental health impact of COVID on our community, we developed a webinar series for parents and caregivers covering the following topics: parenting and mental health, parenting and mindfulness, parenting and trauma, parenting with empathy, and responding to warning signs of abuse.
