Western Pennsylvania Conservancy

Mission

The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy (WPC) protects and restores exceptional places to provide our region with clean waters and healthy forests, wildlife and natural areas for the benefit of present and future generations. The Conservancy creates green spaces and gardens, contributing to the vitality of our cities and towns, and preserves Fallingwater, a symbol of people living in harmony with nature. Pennsylvania's first conservancy, WPC has protected nearly 225,000 acres of natural lands in Pennsylvania since it was established in 1932. WPC has restored watersheds around the state and saved numerous natural habitats to preserve Pennsylvania's rich diversity of life.

Goals

1.CONSERVING ECOSYSTEMS: We will work toward protecting our region’s exceptional ecological resources, including protection of key landscapes, corridors and habitats in the face of fragmentation, climate change, development and other impacts.
2.PEOPLE AND COMMUNITIES: Through the commitment of our staff, volunteers, members and partners, we will collaborate with people and communities to accomplish shared conservation goals and enhance the resilience of the region’s communities.
3.ORGANIZATIONAL EXCELLENCE: We are committed to organizational excellence at WPC, investing in our staff, resources we need to do our work, and the power of collaboration across WPC. This also includes recognizing the vital role our members and volunteers play in our work.
