African Women Rising

Mission

African Women Rising was established in 2006 to empower women in the conflict-affected region of Northern Uganda to rebuild their lives through increased food production, natural resource management, financial security, and education.

Vision

Social economic and political equity for women in Africa.

Goals

1.We are focusing on scaling-up via direct service delivery with the aim of closing the remaining gap of unmet need in the Acholi region. In the next three years, we aim to double our service delivery in Uganda by expanding our programs to reach 23,000 additional women and impact more than 150,000 refugees.
2.At AWR, we are strengthening our organization to maximize impact. We will achieve this by growing our team, upgrading financial and HR systems, and improving data collection, all of which allow us to meet future challenges and seize new opportunities — ensuring that our work continues to empower the communities we serve.
3.Elevate our profile by sharing powerful stories from women affected by our work, inspiring greater support and advocacy. We will expand storytelling platforms, invest in compelling content, and engage our network through clear, impactful communication developed with expert support.
