Face Africa
Mission
FACE Africa is an AFRICAN founded, WOMEN-LED 501c3 non-profit organization. We believe that living a dignified life should not be a luxury afforded only to some, but a basic human right for ALL people. Access to essentials such as CLEAN WATER, SANITATION, HEALTH, NUTRITION, EDUCATION and ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT changes everything. But this is not a reality for hundreds of millions of people living in Sub-Saharan Africa. Our programs provide SUSTAINABLE and CLIMATE SENSITIVE clean water and sanitation infrastructure while BUILDING CAPACITY of local people (especially women and youth) over several months. WOMEN and GIRLS are at the center of our programs to improve gender equality and increase women’s representation in leadership roles and improve girls’ school attendance.
Vision
When FACE Africa Founder Saran Kaba Jones fled Liberia’s war at 8 years old, she never looked back—until age 28, when she returned to post-war Liberia and saw the extent of the devastated water and sanitation systems. Determined to act, she founded FACE Africa in 2009 to provide sustainable clean water and sanitation to Liberia’s most vulnerable and remote communities. But the mission goes beyond access—it’s about empowerment. FACE Africa envisions thriving communities and schools where people are trained in health, maintenance, and financial management, using climate-resilient water systems as a foundation for change. Women and girls are central to decision-making, while youth and people with disabilities have voices that are heard and valued. Through leadership and skills training, FACE Africa drives lasting, community-led transformation that enables every individual to prosper.
Goals
- 1.Over 16 years, 700,000 people have been directly impacted by our WASH and health programs across 7 counties in Liberia. Our goal is to continue to expand our impact across the remaining counties most in need in Liberia, while commencing outreach and programs in neighboring countries like Sierra Leone, Nigeria and Ghana.
- 2.As we look to scale our work, our team and the technical abilities of our growing team will need constant strengthening. For every local person we hire on the ground, we offer high education funding to allow every one of our team to feel that they can achieve their life's dreams, while helping communities without clean water achieve theirs.
