Mission

People Helping Horses Heal People is the mission that guides everything we do. It holds us to the highest standard of care and rehabilitation for our horses and is at the heart of our educational approach and programming. As a sanctuary, we are committed to the life-long wellbeing of our horses and believe in the healing bond between humans and horses. Since Lucky Orphans opened its barn doors in 2008 we have helped many horses, along with some sheep and goats, find a more promising and meaningful future. It is our goal to not only save these wonderful animals but to also strengthen the relationship between people and animals to build a more compassionate future.

Goals

1.Enhance Equine and Human Impact by expanding equine-assisted therapy programs. Lucky Orphans Horse Rescue will partner with three outside organizations serving youth, veterans, and women while increasing therapy session availability by 25% to meet rising community demand for mental health and resilience programming.
2.Strengthen community engagement and awareness through expanded educational outreach and strategic communications. Lucky Orphans Horse Rescue will partner with local school districts to introduce equine education programs, host an annual open house to increase community involvement, and implement a comprehensive social media and content strategy to grow our audience by 30% by 2027.
3.Strengthen organizational growth and sustainability by diversifying revenue and investing in people. LOHR will launch a corporate sponsorship program and new events such as Help A Horse Day, increase the annual fundraising goal by 10% toward $725,000 by 2027, cultivate foundation relationships for long-term funding, and expand staff and volunteer training and certification.
