Mission
Who We Are Share the Health Cambodia is a US-based 501 (c) (3) Nonprofit NGO (Non-governmental Organization) dedicated to improving life and health across the world. Share the Health Cambodia’s 2025-26 mission is to continue providing rural Cambodia with a MAT (Medical Assistant Trained) and Post-Crash Response program that can act as the foundation for emergency medical services training programs in the future. Our program allows local Cambodian citizens, police, military, medical providers, teachers, religious members, and high school students to feel empowered to act quickly and confidently to provide culturally adapted and simplified basic prehospital emergency skills throughout the country.
Vision
Cambodia's basic infrastructure was destroyed by the Khmer Rouge in the 1970s, leaving the country with no modern medical care. Restoration has been very slow and difficult. The country has no 911 system, no EMS or Fire department, and most people still depend on traditional folk medicine for care. Our program has operated in Cambodia since 2009, teaching a culturally adapted program using readily available local materials to improvise first aid to allow people to live long enough to be taken to a doctor. We teach to stop bleeding, splint broken bones. relieve choking, and performing compression only CPR, with an emphasis on acting quickly and adapting to use what is around them. Our program has trained over 30.000 students, and we are always striving to collaborate and train other NGOs to deliver our program.
Goals
- 1.Our program has been wildly successful, and well received by the country and the government, but we need more organizations to learn and share our program. With cooperation and train-the-trainer programs, we hope to expand to help as many as possible.
- 2.Due to a recent border war with Thailand, a new program for additional skills focused on traumatic injuries has been developed. We hope to deliver this additional training to villages along the border region at high risk of burn, explosive and blast injuries.
- 3.Share the Health Cambodia has been providing care and treatment to the rural poor of Cambodia since 2009. As the needs change, we must adapt. Our MAT course has become the core course, and in high demand. We have been requested to create similar culturally adapted programs for Vital Sign assessment and interpretation, and a Conflict Region Trauma specific skills course.
