What are this organization’s external mobilizaton efforts?
Recognized by other WASH leaders in the country as the provider of the sole solution to last-mile rural clean water scarcity, Saha engages WASH stakeholders, including 25 District Assemblies, in our work toward government partnership/adoption at scale. Through our leadership in Ghana, we are active participants in the Water and Sanitation Coalition of NGOs (CONIWAS), presenting at organisied events. We are working with IRC as they support the GoG to complete district/regional level WASH master plans to include solutions for the last-mile. To raise awarenes on our mission and cause, apart from through our websight and social medial handles, as the world has now opened up after the Covid-19 pandemic, we attend key events to engage with other people in the development world and advocate for clean water for the last-mile. some key events we attend are the Skoll World Forum, the All Systems Connect International Symposium and the World Water Week in Stockholm among others.
The nonprofit has an opportunity to tell the story of how the organization adapted to tremendous external changes in the last year.
In Q4 of 2021, in partnership with Rippleworks, Saha launched a series of R&D projects to investigate the main drivers of a dramatic increase in water consumtion during Covid-19. This highlighted the pain points of the model for both our customers and entrepreneurs and showed how much greater Saha’s impact could be if we professionalized our service and introduced a direct water subsidy. We have therefore begun facing out our legacy model and increasing the amount of clean water delivered by our water treatment plants and consumed by our customers by transitioning to a Rural Water Utility (RWU) model. Under this approach, Saha entrepreneurs will be salaried, skilled, supplied, and supervised, and our customers will be offered a reliable, professional and affordable water service.
