Friends of the Summit

Mission

We aim to enhance The Summit's future as a premier public media organization by increasing financial support, promoting community interest, and providing advice and recommendations to station management and its license holder.

Vision

Our vision is to be the indispensable voice of our community, where diverse music unites us, engagement empowers us, and innovative public media enriches lives across generations.

Goals

1.Summit Wellness harnesses music's power to enhance community mental health and recovery. Our behavioral health professionals collaborate with station staff and artists to create accessible wellness programming. Through musical experiences and professional guidance, we reduce stigma, build connections, and provide evidence-based resources to underserved populations.
2.The Marilyn Stroud Music Alive Program collects, restores, and distributes musical instruments to students in Ohio public schools. Since 2008, over 600 instruments have been donated to underfunded music programs, giving underrepresented students access to music education. By connecting unused instruments with eager young musicians, we help keep music alive for future generations.
3.We offer two scholarships through local community foundations: The Jim Chenot and Dennis Spisak Attitude for Gratitude Scholarships. These awards help high school seniors pursue higher education while honoring those who've faced health challenges. Students share their experiences with wellness through creative works that reflect gratitude and resilience.
