We partner with many other organizations such as MinT and CSUMB CTI to build a complete pipeline to better serve our students and advocate for investments into tech education. We share our findings regularly at conferences and online.

CodeDay events were created in a time when: - No one knew the term hackathon. In fact, there were only two hackathons: PennApps was in its second year, and Yahoo had been running internal hackathons. - The average person didn't think about CS. Smartphones were new. Startups were niche (Y Combinator was in its 4th year). A career in tech was not particularly exciting. - No one cared about Computer Science education. Code.org wouldn't be founded for another year, and the CS4All movement had reached a few dozen high schools for millions of dollars in funding. In 2023 we revamped our programs to better stand-out and serve the needs of today's students: - Re-distinguish our value to participants. Increase the average quality of events by doing fewer events which are more memorable and notable. - Re-distinguish our value to organizers. Help organizers understand why they should organize CodeDay. Reframe our role from "volunteers helping us organize" to "us helping volunteers organize". - Build toward "escape velocity". Create a path from new events to massive success, with the long-term goal of creating a program of events which is operationally and financially sustainable.
