On February 15, 2019, the IRS automatically revoked the federal tax exemption status of Hunkpati Investments for "failure to file a Form 990-series return or notice for three consecutive years." On September 19, 2017, The Capital Journal reported on the operations of Hunkpati Investments, a charity that has recently experienced a material diversion of assets, in an article titled, "Judge sentences Crow Creek woman to 27 months for embezzling from nonprofit."
