Mission

Open Heart Magic inspires anxious children facing difficult illnesses, unexpected hospital stays, and frightening medical situations. Through personal bedside magic interactions, we encourage them to sit up, laugh, and face their circumstances with courage. In a hospital setting, children often anticipate pokes, scans, medication, or more bad news with every visitor. This fear can lead to a loss of energy and hope, causing them to withdraw from treatment and their families. Open Heart Magic believes doctors can’t heal everything and that laughter really can be the best medicine. We're committed to helping sick kids get their magic back.

1.Magic in hospitals has never been more important. Open Heart Magic collaborates with hospital advisors and Child Life Specialists to continually advance its unique program within dynamic and challenging medical environments. Through specialized recruitment and rigorous volunteer training, Open Heart Magic will expand its impact and reach more nationally recognized children's hospitals.
2.Open Heart Magic has a strategic plan to build sustainable programs in its current markets (Chicago, Cleveland, and Ann Arbor) and expand into new regions nationwide. Through a robust recruitment model, rigorous training, and a patient- and hospital-first approach, Open Heart Magic is focused on building capacity to grow this world-class program and help more children and families.
