Mission Garden envisions a world where diverse communities collaborate to grow abundant food sustainably.

Goals

1. 1.Mission Garden has been in existence for approximately twelve years and is currently transitioning from a mostly all volunteer staff to a professional one. More staff have been hired and the organization only hired its second executive director in mid 2023. A review of programs based on relevance to mission followed by staff capacity will inform future program developments.
2. 2.In its transition to become more professionalized there is a need to invest in best practices related to financial practice and general nonprofit management. A series of training on nonprofit governance has been provided to the board of directors to refresh and/or introduce them to governance and committee structure.
3. 3.Recent program developments have focused on climate change and sustainability and how changes in these areas affect the ability to grow food, plants, crops that have been adapted to an arid environment. A demonstration garden will provide examples that can be used by our visitors to use and reinforce these practices.
