    Go Project Inc.

    Mission

The GO Project (“GO”) helps New York City public school students thrive early in their education through year-round academic, social-emotional, and family support. GO was founded in 1968, when volunteers began using vacant independent school classrooms at Grace Church School to support 30 public school children in Lower Manhattan who were struggling in school. Today, over 800 students behind grade level in literacy and/or math enroll in GO during K-2nd grades and can participate in our high-quality programming through 8th grade. Each year, students receive over 200 hours of additional instruction over the summer and on Saturdays during the school year. With this early and sustained support, they are equipped with the skills to reach and exceed grade proficiency, graduate on time, and achieve long-term educational success. GO’s unique public-private school model works with over 30 NYC public schools to recruit students most in need of extra support, and 6 independent schools that share their unused classroom space with us free of charge.
