K9s For Warriors

Mission

Determined to end Veteran suicide, K9s For Warriors provides highly trained Service Dogs to military Veterans suffering from PTSD, traumatic brain injury and/or military sexual trauma. With the majority of dogs being rescues, this innovative program allows the K9/Warrior team to build an unwavering bond that facilitates their collective healing and recovery. This treatment method is backed by scientific research (from Arizona University's OHAIRE Lab) demonstrating Service Dogs' ability to help mitigate their Veteran's symptoms of PTSD while simultaneously restoring their confidence and independence. Founded in 2011 as a 501 (c) (3), every Warrior who walks through the door at K9s For Warriors is family. We provide them with a Service Dog, equipment, three-week residential training, seminars, legal instruction, veterinary care, home-cooked meals, unconditional love, and a lifetime of wrap-around services, all at no financial cost to the Warrior.

1.In Q1 2024 we will graduate our 1000th veteran/K9 pairing. This is an incredible accomplishment that took roughly 12 years to reach. Our goal is to reach an additional 1,000 in the next four years.
2.Establish more effective data management system to track critical data / KPIs for each department to better inform decisions around dog training, procurement, warrior operations, and fundraising.
3.Widen Warrior program to include mental health support for those on waitlist, and pre-arrival communications.
