Vision

When improv is embedded in a curriculum that focuses on strengthening self-concept, nonviolent conflict resolution, and the ability to apply learned skills to real-life situations--and when the curriculum is delivered by skilled Teaching Artists some of whom were formerly incarcerated and all of whom understand the importance of mentorship in the development of self-concept, then improv is a powerful intervention for personal transformation.

Goals

1. 1.Reduce juvenile delinquency, recidivism, and/or other problem and high-risk behaviors of justice-involved youth through the development, enhancement, and/or expansion of high-quality, culturally relevant arts programs that make space for transformational relationships with Teaching Artists, LMSW, and MSW Interns.
2. 2.Learn the fundamentals of improvisational theater; learn how the creative process can build self-confidence; increase social and emotional awareness and expression among participants; increase non-violent problem-solving that improves the quality of life and reduces rates of recidivism; and mitigate some of the trauma of incarceration.
3. 3.Reorganize the Board of Directors to center Representation. Recruit Board Members intentionally and equitably to sustain true representation and organizational sustainability.
