Mission

The Ohio Environmental Council is the leading advocate for fresh air, clean water, and sustainable land use in Ohio. The OEC has a widely respected 54-year history of innovation, pragmatism, and success. Using legislative initiatives, legal action, scientific principles, and statewide partnerships, we secure a healthier environment for all Ohio families and communities.

Goals

1.Ensure all Ohioians have clean and affordable drinking water, secure reliable funding for restoring Ohio’s waterways, and work in coalition to reduce algae-causing pollution.
2.Decarbonize the electric system, increase energy democracy for all Ohioans by securing better rules and regulations, and reduce methane pollution coming from oil and gas operations
3.Manage Ohio’s forests for carbon storage and climate resiliency, defend public lands from extraction, pipeline construction, and clearcutting, and expand public access to and acreage of green space.
