Vision

We believe all humans are born with abundant potential—we are destined to become creators, healers, innovators, builders, and educators. But a child born into the generational cycle of poverty is too often stripped of this destiny. That’s where education comes in. Education is about justice. Where poverty robs us of opportunities, education gives them back. Education levels the playing field. Education opens doors. We envision a Guatemala transformed through education: a future in which every Guatemalan child learns to read, gains tech skills, and graduates high school with the skills they need to thrive. We know that when we empower young people with the opportunities to rise out of poverty, not only will they determine their own stories, but they will shape the destiny of their country.

Goals

1. 1.Reading - Through our Spark Reading Program for primary schools and Textbook Program for middle schools, we empower rural schools and communities to improve the quality of education for preprimary, primary, and middle-school students by providing children’s books or textbooks, instructional materials, and a teaching methodology to increase reading fluency and comprehension.
2. 2.Technology - Through our Technology Program for middle schools and high-school students, we empower rural schools and communities to improve the quality of technology education and provide middle and high-school youth with badly-needed technology training, positioning that positions them with necessary skills for future employment or further education.
3. 3.Graduation - We create more pathways for youth, particularly girls, to access high-quality secondary education and graduate with the skills and preparation needed for life beyond school. Our Rise Youth Development Program and new CFM college preparatory boarding school for grades 7-12 help accomplish this goal, as well as a residence house, Casa Sofia, for girls attending university.
