Vision

Exodus Transitional Community was born from a bold vision: to build a world where individuals returning home from incarceration are not only welcomed but empowered, and to provide a platform for returning citizens to not only succeed but to thrive. That vision—rooted in justice, dignity, and transformation—has guided our work since the very beginning and continues to drive our mission today.

Goals

1. 1.Expand access to our programs in 3 key areas: Mental Health and SUD Treatment, Workforce Development/Job Training & Placement, and our work inside correctional facilities. where we bring healing circles and psychoeducation groups focused on trauma and resiliency by helping to interrupt cycles of violence and promote trauma healing tailored to the experiences and needs of individuals.
2. 2.Invest in Financial Systems, Organizational & Professional Development for staff (over 95% of staff are justice impacted). Exodus was called upon by the NYC government to help people being released from incarceration during the pandemic resulting in rapid growth: this required restructuring of our financial systems. Changes in government funding priorities required a change in funding strategies.
3. 3.To continue to meet the needs of our community and constituents, we are working towards the development of a social enterprise model to give participants hands-on experience with key social enterprises and entrepreneur skills to help them run their own business as an alternative to becoming an employee – they can become an employer! This will also help us meet our goal of increasing revenue.
