National College Attainment Network

Mission

Founded in 1995, the mission of the National College Access Network (NCAN) is to support members and influence leaders, organizations, policies, and systems across the country to increase equity and excellence in postsecondary degree access and attainment. NCAN provides member organizations with professional development, networking, benchmarking, and news from the field so they can deliver these services more effectively and to more students. Resources include conferences, webinars, and online tools such as guidebooks and manuals as well periodic re-grants to implement new initiatives.

Vision

All students - especially first-generation students, students from underrepresented racial/ethnic backgrounds, and those from low-income backgrounds - have an equitable opportunity to achieve social and economic mobility through higher education.

Goals

1.Bolster knowledge, skills, & competencies of leaders & practitioners through access to best practices, resources, professional development, & network connections.
2.Build the case for research-based state & federal policies that equitably advance postsecondary affordability & completion; equip members & students to advocate for change.
3.Elevate evidence-based strategies for increasing degree attainment to systems-level leaders (state agencies, districts), & forge connections across educational orgs & systems.
