Jewish Family Service of the Desert

Mission

The Mission of JFS Desert is to provide for the social service needs of the Jewish and general community throughout the greater Coachella Valley with a commitment to promote the well-being of people of all ages, incomes and lifestyles. Since its inception as part of the Jewish Federation of Palm Springs and Desert Area in 1982, JFS has grown—not just in size, but in its ability to serve the people of the Coachella Valley. Beginning as a small group of volunteers who checked in on seniors and disabled people who lived alone, JFS Desert has evolved into an organization of professionals and volunteers that provide a broad range of support and services to thousands of Southern California residents each year.

1.To ensure current systems are optimally offering available programs, noting changes brought on by the pandemic affecting agency capabilities, client needs, and partner availability.
2.After determining operational reliance and programs' continued impact, seek to extend access to area residents, whether through virtual abilities/access or creating satellite physical space.
3.As community needs dictate, amend or create services to become more efficient, effective, or widespread.
