Mission

The Long Beach Public Library Foundation provides support to enhance The Long Beach Public Library and encourages literacy and education for all members of the community. Since our founding in 1996, we have supported literacy and education by providing resources and funding for special programs, events, projects, and initiatives

Vision

The Long Beach Public Library Foundation envisions a well-informed, literate Long Beach community that enjoys free and equal access to a well-resourced public library system that is open and accessible 7 days per week, so every community member has the tools to build a lifetime relationship with reading and learning.

Goals

1.The Library Foundation will raise endowment and program funds, supporting vital youth and literacy programs, and purchasing books and resources that cannot be supplied with existing City funds.
2.To ensure equity and keep resources free and accessible to everyone, regardless of their socioeconomic background, City support for increased hours is a top priority.
3.Our Board increasingly reflects our community. It is 50% diverse, 65% female, and brings experience including finance, accounting, law, HR, communications, education, government, and advocacy.
