Vision

The Wetlands and Wildlife Care Center was established to provide care for native wildlife and to educate the general public about wildlife and their habitats.

Goals

1. 1.The Center is capable of caring for 400 birds and mammals at a time with an emergency capacity of 1,000 animals. With continuing encroachment on our remaining wilderness areas and increases in oil spills, the center becomes more important with each passing year. Our primary goal is to continually expand to better serve the needs of our region and surrounding areas in Southern California.
2. 2.Education is one of our most vital tools for enhancing the public’s understanding of our native wildlife. Our educational programs empower youth in our communities by educating them early on and instilling a sense of stewardship; and for many underrepresented groups in our community, our programs are one of few pathways for access to further education in this field.
3. 3.The operation of our facilities is pertinent to the care of our wildlife patients, namely our several outdoor enclosures which accommodate large groups of recovering seabirds. Additionally, the maintenance of our teaching hospital is essential to not only our hundreds of patients, but also the students across our various programs across Southern California.
